Photo competitions foster an atmosphere of creativity and competitiveness – it gives artists an outlet to do good by using their talents and skills
Where does the money from my submission(s) go?
There are villages and regions all around the world that are in need of clean water and sanitation. We focus on sub-Saharan Africa. We partner closely with VOX United, an international non-profit organization, who has sustainable and long term relationships with people and communities in sub-Saharan Africa. As the specific projects with which we assist are identified, we make these details known so that you know exactly how your funds are being used.
How much of every dollar goes toward clean water projects?
One hundred percent of all entry fees go toward the direct costs associated with clean water projects, including, but not limited to, well construction, well maintenance, water filter installation and education.
How much does it cost to build a well?
Wells cost anywhere between $3,000 to $6,000. Depending on how deep the contractors have to dig, the costs could increase; deeper wells cost more money.
Who is responsible for the construction associated with RTW-funded projects?
We always want local businesses investing in their communities. We work exclusively with VOX United and partner with locals in order to implement solutions and technologies appropriate to their geographic region and culture.
How many photos may a contestant enter?
There is no limit to how many photos one contestant can enter – entry fees vary depending on the number of entries. See our Official Rules on the "Submit" page.
Are there any events associated with River to Well Photo Competition?
Yes. The fall of 2011 will see two River to Well exhibitions; one in Lawrence, Kansas and one in Denver, Colorado. Be sure to check the Event page for complete details.
How will I know if I am a winner?
After all judging has been completed by the River to Well Judging Committeel, all contestants will receive an email notification that she or he has or has not won. Winners will receive instructions on where & when to pick up prizes.
Will you return my photo after the competition?

Who put this all together?
The RTW Team is comprised of a group of friends who have a passion for art and a deep love for people. We want to do good, change lives, build wells and encourage others to join us in the fight for clean water.
